Alabama Power stockholders created a non-profit organization to help with energy assistance. This trust works with local community action agencies to help with heating and cooling bills for low-income single mothers, families and individuals with short-term financial difficulties.
Families and individuals can contact a local community agency to access the ABC Trust programs. The Trust educates people on how to make their homes more energy-efficient and how to weatherize them.
Alabama LIHEAP pays heating costs for low-income households in the state. This includes those who have the lowest income and are not able to pay for energy.
To be eligible for assistance, the household income of the applicant must not exceed 150% below the federally-established poverty level. Priority is given for households with disabled or elderly members and/or households with children younger than five years of age.

The organization manages several programs ideal for single mothers, including one for low-income families. The assistance program provides financial assistance for eligible families. It helps them to pay for water, rent, and prescription medication. The approval of the fund depends on the availability of funds and documented need.
Healthcare And Medical Bills Help In Alabama
A non-profit organization providing free dental care and health care to single mothers of low income. Through collaboration with the optometry, dental, and medical communities, the organization provides quality primary care accessible to children. Families are offered education about managing chronic diseases. They are taught how to lower their health care and medical expenses.
Medicaid, Alabama’s largest program, provides medical and health-related services for the poorest residents of Alabama, including children, the elderly, blind and the disabled. Alabama Medicaid covers children under the age of 18 and pregnant women whose family income is below 146% of federal poverty. Alabama has not expanded Medicaid coverage. This means that non-disabled adults are only eligible for parents with incomes less than 18%, which is about $3,950 per year for a single mother.

All Kids offers low-cost healthcare coverage to Alabama’s uninsured children below the Medicaid income limit. You may have to pay small premiums or copays depending on your income for coverage. Benefits include 12-month continuous coverage, regular check-ups and vaccinations, sick child doctor visits and prescriptions, hospitalization, vision and dental care, and many other benefits.
Your child’s fee group will determine how much you pay to cover your child’s coverage. This ranges from $52 to $104 per year. All children can apply for Medicaid. Alabama Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP)
Alabama CCAP is a state subsidy program that helps low-income Alabama families pay for child care. Eligible parents can receive assistance on a sliding-fee basis to pay for child care.
Depending on where you live, you may need to meet work requirements. You also need to have a child below the age of 13. Disabled people may be granted some exceptions. You must fill out the Child Care Assistance Application Form if you believe you are income eligible. Then, mail it to your local Child Care Management Agency.
Alabama Special Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
Alabama families eligible for WIC receive vouchers to purchase healthy food to supplement their diet. Other benefits include nutrition education, referrals for health care, and free screening.

Food assistance for people in crisis Businesses, civic groups, individuals, churches, and churches donate money to support the organization. The Clothes Closet not only provides basic clothing but also offers all the bits and pieces that an individual may need for various occasions. They include business attire, school uniforms and shoes. Clothes Closet’s goal is to increase self-esteem and self-confidence.
