Cabell-Huntington Coalition for the Homeless operates an emergency shelter. This organization supports the rights to adequate shelter, food, and clothing for all. Harmony House’s mission is to provide housing and other resources for the homeless, and to partner with agencies to facilitate these resources. Harmony House is a multipurpose shelter that offers a variety of services to homeless individuals and families.
Vanity Fair is another housing program run by the Coalition. Vanity Fair has a maximum of fifty-three single-room occupancy. It is for people who are in transition from homelessness. This organization provides permanent housing and supportive services for all residents. They can also help residents connect to local service agencies.
The Bethany House
They provide emergency shelter for those in need 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They provide basic life support, case management and recommendations for other community resources.

The Legal Aid of West Virginia (LAWV)
The Legal Aid of West Virginia (LAWV), focuses its efforts on three main program areas:
- Behavioral Health Advocacy
- Civil Legal Aid
- ElderCare and Long-Term Care
Each program focuses on a specific skill. You can combine them to help the LAWV achieve its ultimate goal of helping West Virginia’s most vulnerable residents. They offer a range of advocacy services that result in effective solutions for many families and individuals within the community. Their Civil Legal Services Program is the core component of LAWV. This program offers free legal advice and legal representation to at-risk individuals throughout the state.
They have 12 offices in the state, and more than 50 lawyers. Each year they deal with countless legal cases. They work to protect and assist citizens to access basic rights like shelter, food safety, education, health care, and other necessities. They provide direct legal assistance and make the information available to the public.

The Bartlett Housing Solutions
A non-profit organization that provides a safe environment for people and families. This is because the organization recognizes the increasing social problem of homelessness. Bartlett Housing Solutions offers resources like shelter, food, and medical attention. They offer skills to help residents end homelessness and avoid dependency.
Every person’s journey is different, as are their struggles and the way they want to move forward. Therefore, they have a team who can help identify and equip their residents with the knowledge and skills they need to end homelessness. Housing-First is the organization’s homeless assistance program. This program provides support services and housing assistance to individuals and families who are homeless. The Housing-First model allows families and individuals to obtain housing first, and then to thrive in a safe environment to regain control of their lives and their health.
The Latrobe Street Mission
A community organization that helps people to find a way to improve their lives. The emergency shelter provides basic needs such as shelter, food and clothing. This organization connects families and individuals with resources that can help them achieve their independence and freedom. Individuals looking for emergency shelter and single moms can apply at any hour of the day. To be admitted, you will need to complete a form as well as a drug screen.
Shelter services are available to men, women, and children at different locations. Residents are allowed to stay up to eight weeks and are trained to address the root causes of their crisis. They also receive assistance in finding resources that will suit their needs. Their staff and volunteers provide the main services. On weekdays, all residents can enjoy dinner at local churches and groups. They also offer laundry and hot showers. Breakfast snacks are offered each morning.
Homeless Shelter Assistance in West Virginia
The Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center (RSLC)
The RSLC assist families and individuals who are homeless by providing housing and employment opportunities. They have a mission of ending chronic homelessness. They provide temporary shelter and skill development to help people who are homeless become self-sufficient. There are several programs that provide permanent and transitional housing, including the Twin Cities Center. The Twin Cities Center (TCC), which offers 16 beds, serves the homeless population. They assist women who are homeless for long periods of time or who have been homeless repeatedly.
The Greater Wheeling Coalition for the Homeless
They manage a temporary shelter that helps to develop long-term solutions for homelessness. The Coalition also links with other agencies to provide a comprehensive service to the homeless population of their community. Coalition provides direct care for the homeless, offering a variety of housing and case management services.
They identify areas of need in the current service delivery system. Coalition modified its program in order to provide affordable, accessible housing for the homeless. A permanent supportive housing program is also offered by the coalition to help low-income earners, single mothers included, to enable them to live in permanent accommodation and achieve independence.

Jefferson County Leasing Program
These programs offer permanent housing, as well as case management and connections to community resources for homeless families (especially single mothers) and individuals. To be eligible for this program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- The applicant must be a homeless person.
- A Resident of Jefferson County
