Low-Income Dental Care in Mn (Minnesota)

Last Updated on November 24, 2022 by Anne-Sophie Reinhardt

Not everyone has dental benefits (commonly called “dental insurance”) through an employer, and those who are unemployed face even greater problems getting necessary dental care. Sometimes there are language barriers, transportation difficulties, or simply not any dentists close by. The Minnesota Dental Association is committed to lending a helping hand to those in need, including low-income dental care in Mn. The information below can help you find free or sliding fee scale clinics, as well as special state and national programs for children and for elderly, disabled or medically compromised individuals.

Resources For Parents & Older Adults with Low-Income Dental Care in Mn

Minnesota Head Start Association

Head Start encourages good oral health starting at birth. A child’s oral health is an important aspect of their overall health and well-being. Good oral health is a sign of a child’s ability to eat right, sleep well, as well as develop the way they should. The ability of a child to learn is also affected by their oral health. Tooth pain can cause children to have difficulty completing schoolwork or other activities. Children with tooth pain may be anxious, withdrawn, or appear tired or depressed.

Children in Early Head Start should have their mouth and teeth checked at the first tooth eruption. They also need to be examined every year.
