Shelter is a basic need for every person. Because of the high rent payments, it can be difficult to find safe and secure housing. These mothers can take up a lot of their earnings and will eventually be left without access to food, clothing, transportation, or healthcare.

Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM), which provides housing programs to help households who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, offers assistance. They assist them in their quest to independence. To be eligible for the programs and services offered, applicants must meet the eligibility requirements of the service provider. NAM offers rent and mortgage assistance. The selection of applicants is random and appointments are made weekly.

Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH), which offers housing options to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, is designed to promote housing stability and beneficial health outcomes. These Services include rent support, transportation assistance and advocacy. People with rental arrears are eligible for programs through the Homelessness Prevention Programs. As well as short-term financial assistance, there are many workshops and referrals available to single mothers. NAM, a non-profit organization, offers additional assistance in the areas of food, education and financial education.
