Many organizations offer scholarships to women, and any minorities, to help complete their studies in medicine and related fields. Scholarships are a great way to fund medical school and leave you graduating without any student loans.

Moreover, several organizations are willing to fund women all over America who require financial assistance to complete their education and training in multiple medical fields.

Dentistry Scholarships

Becoming a dentist can be very costly as you need an advanced medical degree. However, these scholarships can make life so much easier for you.

The Regent Healthcare Scholarship For Medicine and Dentistry

This scholarship is by the New York State Education Department and is constructed to provide financial relief for underrepresented populations such as women and minorities.

The New York State Education Department awards this scholarship to 100 applicants. 80 goes to medical students, and 20 to dentistry students.

To qualify for this scholarship, you must have US citizenship, be a permanent resident, a national, or refugee with at least one year of legal residency. You must also be a full-time graduate student in an approved dental or medical school of the New York State.

Upon graduation, you must agree to work for a year in a New York State health care facility for each year of the award received. For more information, contact: scholar@mail.nysed.gov.

Dr. Bessie Elizabeth Delaney Award For Female Students

This scholarship is by the Nation Dental Association (NDA). They choose only one female student to award $10 000 to complete her studies.

To qualify for this scholarship, you must be a US citizen or a permanent resident and a member of the National Dental Association. You must also be busy with a postgraduate dental degree.

National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research Short-Term Training Awards

The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research supports clinical and basic research. They conduct and fund research training, and promote and transfer health information gained from research to health professionals.

The institute provides a monthly stipend while you gain experience in research. To qualify for this award, you must be a US citizen or permanent resident. You can also be a non-citizen in an accredited US dental. Finally, you must agree to finish any payback requirements.

Nursing Scholarships for Women

Though nursing is an outstanding profession and increasing in demand, getting an education in nursing is costly. However, numerous universities, colleges, and organizations make it possible for women who need financial assistance to pursue a bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in nursing.

Nursing scholarship program

The US government sponsors this program to aid disadvantaged students in completing their training. Applications are only accepted once a year, so be sure to apply before closing dates. This scholarship includes a monthly stipend, tuition, and other required fees paid directly to the school, as well as clinical supplies, books, and uniforms.

To qualify for this scholarship, you must be a US citizen or a legal permanent resident and a full-time or part-time student. However, you may not have any federal charges or debt, and you must be free of existing service commitments.

Students selected for this scholarship must complete at least 2 years of service at any health care facility that has a shortage of nurses in exchange for the scholarship.

Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Academic Scholarships

AORN is a non-profit corporation that provides education, clinical supplies, standards, and practices that fully enable perioperative to assist patients undergoing operative procedures.

The AORN Foundation awards scholarships to registered nurses who would like to either start or further their education in perioperative nursing by obtaining a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree. A minimum of 3.0 GPA is required to qualify for this scholarship.

Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation Scholarships

This foundation supports students who look to pursue medical and health education. They aid outstanding medical students enrolled in allied health professions.

Rukmini and Joyce Vasudevan scholarship for women

Females entering their third and fourth year of medical school are eligible for this scholarship. You must submit a personal letter explaining your compassion, hard work, caring nature, and courage despite any adversity in life.

Goodman-Goodwell Scholarship

Students who live in Wisconsin, currently in their second year, and are interested in specializing in general family practice or pulmonary medicine are eligible for this scholarship.

General Medical Education Scholarship

Students entering into their second year of medical school and pursuing a medical degree (not undergrad) can apply for this scholarship. They will prefer students who are almost done with their studies, go to schools in Wisconsin, and practice in Wisconsin once their studies are completed.

Physical Therapy Scholarships

The Tylenol Scholarship

An amount of up to $250 000 in scholarship and grants is available through Tylenol to students pursuing degrees in health care. 150 grants of $1000 and 20 scholarships of $5000 are available to undergraduate students.

Florence P Kendall Doctoral Scholarship Program

The Florence P Kendall Doctoral Scholarship Program is part of the Foundation’s Doctoral Opportunities for Clinicians and Scholars (DOCS) program. This foundation has the intent of supplying financial support to physical therapists and physical therapy assistants. A scholarship of $5000 goes to a well-qualified candidate who displays exceptional performance in her first year.

Physical Therapist: To qualify for the scholarship, you must be a licensed physical therapist in the US or US territory, with an excellent passing score on the licensure exam.

Physical Therapy Assistant: To qualify for the scholarship, you must be a licensed physical therapist in the US or US territory, with an excellent passing score on the licensure exam. You are eligible to get support from the foundation for the intervention studies provided by the physical therapists.

Candidates must be in a post-professional doctoral program that is fully accredited. Also, she must be a legal permanent resident of the US or a US citizen. Continue to www.foundation4pt.org for guidelines, assistance, and application form.

Foundation Research Grant Program

The Foundation’s research Grant program supports upcoming investigators for their research in specific areas. $40 000 is also funded to the beneficiary for research done in US institutions. Both physical therapists and physical therapy assistants can apply for this grant. However, only if she has:

  • Completed graduate, postgraduate, or post-professional work
  • Some research experience
  • Not been awarded a Research Project Grant
