San Francisco Community Assistance Program

They provide a 15% discount on water bills and a 35% discount on sewer bills. The program caters to account holders that meet income requirements with an annual utility bill not greater than 5% of their gross income. A visit from the Water-Wise Evaluation Program must take place in the household before approval of the application. These are the program’s qualifications: an existing PG&E residential account, proof of inability to pay, not participating in subsidized housing assistance with an income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. Swords to Plowshares, a non-profit organization that assists veterans living in San Francisco. They support the Department of Veteran Affair’s Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program wherein veterans receive assistance with housing, employment, childcare, transportation, eviction, rent bills, and utility bills. The Compass Connecting Point provides assistance to single mothers and families that have a housing crisis and facing eviction due to the inability to pay rent and utility bills. San Francisco Catholic Charities Assistance

The Catholic Charities gives social services to aging and disabled youth and adults, and low-income single parents and families in San Francisco. These are the programs by the Catholic Charities:

  • Assisted Housing & Health Program
    assists low-income individuals with AIDS or HIV with their rent subsidies. In cooperation with Saint Joseph’s Fund, this program can help pay for medical bills too.
  • 10th and Mission Family Housing Program
    assists families with family support services, including various community resources, trainings, and utility bill payment support.
  • Homelessness Prevention Program 
    assists with rent bills to stop eviction
