Grants for single moms in St George
Cash Assistance
The General Assistance program or any one of the five family programs provides cash assistance. Check if you’re qualified for assistance before applying through the Utah Department of Workforce Services (DWS) website or stopping by an office near you in St. George.
Help with Food
Register in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) if you’re an eligible resident in Utah. Call St. George Center at (435) 674-5627 or apply online.
The Utah Food Bank offers two food pantries in St. George. Grace Episcopal Church can be reached at (435) 682-1181, or Switchpoint Community Resource Centre at (435) 627-4662. They offer mobile pantries and child hunger programs too.
Help with Shelter and Housing
The DWS Homeless Prevention Program can be applied if you’re eligible. Canyon Creek Women’s Crisis Center can be reached at (435) 867-9411. Near St. George, call Iron County Care and Share on (435) 586-4962.
The George Housing Authority offers Section 8 and public housing units to those that meet income requirements. People looking to avoid homelessness can apply for the Heritage Emergency Rental Assistance Program. Call the St. George office at (435) 628-3648 or email them.
Help with Energy and Utilities
The Home Energy Assistance Target Program (HEAT) application starts in November. There are year-round services too that can be accessed by calling (435) 652-9643. Call the HEAT office at (435) 652-9643 for regular services or the weatherization department at 435) 586-0586 for more information.

Help with Telephone and Internet Bills
The Lifeline program provides assistance in paying your phone and internet bills. Qualifications are determined based on income or receipts of public benefits. Call 1-800-948-7540, visit their website or visit the UTAP office in Salt Lake City to start your application.
Help with Childcare
The Employment Support Child Care or the Family Employment Program provides help paying Childcare services in St. George. You can review the income eligibility requirements online, or contact St. George Center at (866) 435-7414. You can apply in person at the center, or by calling (435) 674-5627.
Help with Medical and Dental Care
Medicaid is Utah’s official program for medical services. Contact St. George Center in person, visit the DWS office website, or by calling (435) 675-5627 to start your application.
There are additional medical and dental services like the Prescription Assistance Program and The Children’s Center on the DWS website.
Help with Legal Matters
Utah Legal Services assists individuals in need of low-cost or free legal services. They deal with most non-criminal cases involving family law, housing, and public benefits. You can check your income eligibility on the website.
