IHDA Mortgage Loan
The Illinois Housing Development Authority created the IHDA Mortgage Loan to help residents who are financially unable to pay down the down payment but have the financial assistance to buy a home. If qualified, you will be eligible for a fixed-rate loan with a down payment and closing cost assistance. This loan is for first-time homebuyers with low incomes.
Home Repair Assistance in Illinois
Single Family Housing Repair Loans and Grants
This program is also known as Section 504, available in all 50 states. It helps people in need of home renovations and repairs to eliminate safety and health hazards. Senior citizens aged 62 and over are eligible for grants. The rest of the population has access to a loan at an affordable rate with attractive terms and interest rates. These are the terms of the loan:
- Repayment period of 20 years
- A fixed interest rate of 1%
- Grants must be repaid if the property is not sold within three years.
