One percent of the company’s earnings goes to the organic giving fund. Since 2001, more than $1.5million has been given to organic farming communities. This grants option is available for female farmers in 2022.
Female farmers are required to produce, distribute and promote organic food or provide nutrition counseling, with an emphasis on organic produce. In 2022, applicants will have preference if they provide sustainable and organic food options for food-insecure communities and households.

2. Socially Disadvantaged Groups Grant program
Did you know that the USDA will make available $3 million in grants through the Socially Disadvantaged Grants program? Note that the eligible applicants for 2022 female farm grants are cooperatives, cooperative groups, and cooperative development centers. These grants will be used to assist disadvantaged groups in implementing plans and undertaking projects that improve their economic and social circumstances.

3. VAPG – Women Farmer Grants
The Value-Added Producer Grants (or VAPG) are available. This program grants funds to small farmers or ranchers who produce valuable products that can be used to improve the production and processing stages. This could be organic growing techniques, sustainable growing practices or naturally raised livestock. These funds are therefore awarded in competition. Additionally, beginning and small-scale farmers have additional advantages. Candidates must plan to invest in value-added agricultural activities such as the production of organic crops and farm products that can be sold locally.
You may be eligible for grants ranging from $75,000 to $250,00 depending on the nature of your project. You must also cover at least half the project costs. The funds can be used by eligible candidates for marketing activities, planning, and other business operations.

4. REAP – Women Farmer Grants
Another grant for women farmers is the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). This grant program funds renewable energy development. Women may be able to receive funding for energy-efficient power supplies to heat, cool or provide clean energy.

Grants for First-Time Women Farmers

It also gives them a fresh marketing perspective for innovative products they produce. The grants typically range in value from $70,000 to $100,000.

2. Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Grants
Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Fund Grants (SARE) may be available to first-time female farmers. These grants are for marketing and funding research projects that can be shared among farmers. SARE administers grants according to region. These grants typically range in price from $10,000 to $200,000 and are usually administered over a period of three years. Seven to ten projects are funded each year, all with an eye towards sustainable agriculture. There is no deadline for applications. However, you can go to SARE for more information.
Other Farmers Grants for Women
The following are some of the farmers grants available for females;
1. Value-added Agricultural Product Market Development Grants
Beginning farmers are eligible for the Value-added Agricultural Product Market Development farm grants. The value-added agricultural products are different from other types of agriculture. It is a deliberate change in production that aims to increase the product’s value on the market. For example, organic farming adds value to agricultural products.
This is what I love about value-added agricultural products. They can transform unprofitable farms into profitable ones. These grants are given to farmers who create a business plan and market the value-added products. For grants less than $50,000, you can use the simplified application form. A 50 percent match is required.
2. Organic and Green Grants
Grants are available to encourage female farmers and nursery owners to do research on organic and green farming. The Competitive Grants Program of the Horticultural Research Institute provides funding to assist nursery owners in growing and marketing perennials and woody ornamental trees. These grants could also be used to help potential nursery owners open a business. The Organic Farming Research Foundation accepts regular research proposals on organic farming. Grant proposals should not exceed $15,000 and funds can only be granted twice per year.

3. Farmland Protection Program
The U.S. Department of Agriculture manages the Farmland Protection Program. This program protects farmland and ranches and prevents them from being demolished and used for other purposes than agriculture. This program, which partners with the government and tribes, purchases easements for farmers and grants them farmland. Every applicant must submit a business plan that outlines their plans for conserving the land. Applications are welcome from tribal communities, small farmers, and private organizations. 4. Farm Labor Housing Loans and Grants
Farm Labor Housing Loans and Grants Program funds grants to small-scale female farmers who require housing for their workers. These funds are provided by the USDA to help pay for land purchases and build fees for seasonal housing for workers. Grant funds can also be used to construct facilities on the farm such as daycare centers, laundromats, and dining halls. To be eligible for this grant, you must have U.S. citizenship and make most of your income through farming. The grant is worth 10 percent.

Farmer Grants And Scholarships For Women From Non-Profit Organizations
Private agricultural organizations allow women to apply for financial aid and grants for their farm businesses. Farms can also access federal, state, local, and state funds for many purposes, including farm start ups. Non-profit organizations are often granted grants to help combine traditional farming methods with sustainable, environmentally friendly farming techniques. Women farmers who work together in non-profit co-operatives have a better chance of receiving government grants for farming.
1. American Agri-Women (AAW)
American Agri-Women provides scholarships and small farming grants to its members. The organization now focuses on female farmers and helps them to access the resources they need. It hosts events related to the industry, interactive online sessions and conventions.
AAW offers many scholarships to help you build your business and grow your career. To be eligible, you will need to attend the AAW Fly-In. You can also submit an online application. Members who attend the AAW Convention can be eligible for the Helen Whitmore Memorial Convention Scholarship worth $500. You can also go to AAW to get more information.
2. WAMS Farmer Grants for Women
The National Institute of Food and Agriculture also funds the Women and Minorities in Science, Engineering, Technology, and Mathematics Field Program. This grant supports research and extension activities in rural areas that benefit women and minor agricultural producers.
However, Eligible use of funding structures to provide an education-to-workforce program for women, job shadowing, mentoring, or entrepreneurial internship opportunities. Farm grants are also available to rural women farmers through state agricultural experiment stations, universities and research institutions, federal agencies, national laboratories, and other agencies.
3. SARE Grants and Scholarships For Women
The Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education program (SARE), supports American agriculture by rewarding hardworking farmers and ranchers. There are also scholarships and grants available for food producers, nonprofits and students who intend to invest in agriculture.
SARE’s Farmer Rancher Grant Program grants individual grants up to $9,000 and groups grants up to $27,000. However, applicants must submit proposals for projects that will support their communities and promote sustainable farming. The Graduate Student Grant Program is another option, which grants up to $15,000 to students who have innovative ideas.
Farmers can also apply to federal and state farm programs for agricultural grants. For example, the USDA funds the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program (BFRDP) which appeals to new farmers and ranchers. Eligible candidates can receive up to $600,000.
Depending on where you are located and your business goals, you might consider applying for the New Farmers Grant Fund (NY), TAFA’s Young Farmer Grant (Texas) or the Small-Scale Farm Grant Program (Kentucky).
4. ACDI/VOCA Farm Grants for Females
ACDI/VOCA is the new name for the merger of Agricultural Cooperative Development International (formerly VOCA) and Volunteers in Overseas Cooperative Assistance (formerly Agricultural Cooperative Development International). Both organizations were originally U.S. non-profit organizations that worked in agricultural economic development.
The new organization, based in Washington, D.C., works with female farmers to improve the lives of their communities, increase their standard-of-living, and foster solid economic growth. Additionally, part of ACDI/VOCA’s comprehensive program includes grant solicitations, grant negotiations, grant awards, and administrative tasks after grant award.
5. Risk Management Agency Farm Grants for Women
Women agricultural producers can also receive grants from the National Institute of Food and Agriculture Risk Management Education Competitive Grants program. Grant funds are useful for marketing and business development.
Farmers receive training on creating brochures, basic website design, designing business cards, and selling agricultural products online. You can also receive training on how to organize special events or teach classes on your farm. Access these services through regional Risk Management Education Centers.
