Citizens Oil Heat Program 

Citizens Oil Heat Program provides one-time help with heating oil every heating season for citizens who did not qualify for LIHEAP. Call 1-877-JOE-4-OIL to ask for help, or visit the Citizen Energy website to learn more about the program.

Salvation Army’s Programs

HeatShare provides payment for utility bills to eligible families residing in Michigan. Additionally, the Share the Warmth program can give you utility bill assistance if you are a customer of Michigan Gas Utilities (MGU). State Emergency Relief (SER) Program 

The State Emergency Relief (SER) program helps eligible individuals with cash aid for utility bills, housing costs, and home repairs. Call 855-275-6424 to apply for help.

Continuum of Care (CoC) Program 

The Continuum of Care (CoC) program offers permanent and transitional housing to eligible individuals. Some agencies also help with eviction prevention though this is on a case-to-case basis. You can view the agencies that can help you on the Hud Exchange website.

Family Independence Program (FIP) 

Family Independence Program (FIP) provides single mothers and families with children cash assistance for payment of rent, utility bills, or other emergency financial needs. They also offer skill development programs for those who seek employment. Call 855-275-6424 or visit the Michigan Government website to know more and apply for their help.

Michigan Food Stamps Program (SNAP)

The Food Assistance Program (FAP) or Food Stamps or SNAP is a joint effort between the USDA and Michigan’s DHS. This Michigan Food Stamps program aims to assist low-income families, seniors, and disabled people with nutritious food.
