Michigan dental grants support charitable organisations and associations that improve the oral health of Michiganders and other communities. These foundations and programs are working together to improve Michigan citizens’ oral and overall health.
The American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, as well as many other federal, state and local government organizations, provide financial support for various programs that assist with oral care.
The government, as well as private dentists and clinics, are all playing a role in providing the best quality dental care and treatment for the residents of Michigan.
Quality Dental Care for Michiganders
Dental grants are awarded to programs that offer free or reduced-cost treatment for eligible patients. Many non-profit, charity and government-run organisations join to help as many people as possible.
The Delta Dental of Michigan runs many programs and offers grants to improve oral health. This helps Michiganders live a high-quality life. DDM’s Delta Dental Foundation was established in 1980. Many residents have been able to receive their treatment at no cost or very low fees since then.
Since 1980, the DDF:
- Provides access to dental care for those in low-income areas, particularly those at high-risk.
- Awards Dental students and dentists with scholarships and awards
- Donated to many charitable and non-profit organisations that provide dental care.
- Teaches the importance of good oral health first
- Made every effort to get maximum volunteers to join new programs.
Who Is Eligible For Dental Grants in Michigan?
There are many charitable programs in Michigan that help people with dental problems. However, not everyone gets to benefit from them. Only eligible applicants can apply for dental grants according to the guidelines of American Dental Association and Michigan Dental Association.
This ensures that high-risk and underserved populations receive the best dental care. Volunteer dentists teach them the importance of dental health and its impact on overall health.
According to the Donated Dental Services (DDS), the eligibility standards are below. The programs only approve dental grants only if you’re not:
- Not covered by any dental insurance
- Never received treatment before
- Must be 65 years old or older
- Has a lifelong disability
- With a medical condition
- Does not have enough income to cover the treatment (household income below 200% of Federal Poverty Guidelines).
Only eligible applicants receive treatments from volunteer dentists, clinics and laboratories. After the program members have reviewed the application, those who aren’t eligible for grants but still apply will be sent a denial letter.
NOTE: No emergency services are provided by volunteer dentists or dental clinics in the DDS or other dental assistance programs. To start treatment, you must apply for and make an appointment with the dentist.
