Questions about pharmacy technician jobs
Do I need to be certified?
It depends on your state. Of the 20 states in our guides, Colorado, Virginia and Washington require national certification, Texas, New York and Arizona need it for full registration or a license, and Illinois requires it by the second renewal. Others accept a training program or a trainee registration instead.
How do I qualify for the PTCB exam?
Complete a PTCB-recognized education or training program, or at least 500 hours of equivalent work experience as a pharmacy technician.
Can I work only weekends?
Sometimes. Pharmacies that open at weekends need cover, and weekend-only shifts suit parents whose children spend weekends with the other parent.
