Register for an account before you can submit the online application. The completed application will then be sent to your county DHR office. What is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)?

Alabama’s Food Assistance Division administers the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Its purpose is to provide monthly benefits for low-income households/families so they can buy nutritious food at approved grocery stores, farmers’ markets and other retailers.

Individuals need to apply for the SNAP program. The application form must be completed and all supporting documentation must also be submitted. Once approved, SNAP benefits will be issued monthly and placed on an Electronic Benefit Transfer card (EBT), which is similar to a credit card. The amount of benefits depends on income, household size, and other relevant factors.
